Recreation
The South of England is steeped in history and Bentley Mill is situated
in an excellent location for exploring it, by providing easy access to
many areas of historical importance.
The naval base at Portsmouth has been protecting British soil since 1194 and has much to interest visitors of all types. The city of Winchester is also nearby (30 minutes by car). This ancient capital of England was the seat of King Alfred the Great, and today has one of the most stunning Cathedrals in the country.
Another cathedral can be found in Chichester, which also has excellent walks around the ancient city walls and a bustling City Centre.
For those interested in more recent history, the Watercress Line Steam Railway provides the chance to experience the golden age of steam, even providing 'footplate' lessons!
